Hi,

I have a few ( about 5) 700mb AVI files and mpeg files which i need to play on a standalone dvd player. But I can only fit about two of thos files and no more will fit in.

It says:

-------------------------------------------------------
The following problems were detected in your project:

Your project currently requires more disc space than available on the selected destination device.
To save space, you can try the following:
-- Disable the option 'Burn original slide show pictures'.
-- Disable animation of the buttons and backgrounds in your menus.
-- Reduce the encoding quality of your project.
-- Remove or shorten some of your project's titles.
------------------------------------------------------------

First of all, before anyone says anything, i would like to say, i don't want to reduce the quality.
I don't mind having a low quality menu or anything.

If my calculations are correct, it shold take up about 3.5GB (roughly). Also it will have the rest of the 1.2GB of the standard 4.7GB DVD to make the menu etc, which should be plenty.

What is wrong?
I am completely confues and need some help.

Thanks. Ur help and support is much appreciated.

The AVI files are in one format the DVD files are in a different format.
The DVD format requires more space - even though the running times are the same.
In Nero Vision there is a 'More' tab at the bottom of the screen.
You can select 'Video Options' then 'Quality Setting' which can be reset for lower quality - but there will be a point where it will simply not fit on the disk.
If you are determined, then you can output the project to the hard drive and load the folder into DVD Shrink which will further compress the files down to a point where they fit on the disk, but the video will be unwatchable.
