Im trying to 'back up' Stranger than fiction.. none of my readers will even read the disk to try to burn it. Ive tried DVDDecrypter, DVDXCopy, and CloneDVD.. they all bring up errors or freeze up when I boot them up.

Stranger than Fiction is a sony dvd and i guess sony movies are hard to copy? So what do I do now??

Try DVDFab HD Decrypter.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I would look at the disk and see if it needs cleaning..... fingerprints, smudges, scratches, even cracks will inhibit the computer from reading the disk properly!

what errors are they saying? ......and dialysis1 gave you good advise, because......DVDDecrypter and DVDXCopy are not updated anymore for newer movies. CloneDVD needs an the encryption free files to copy! So a good additive would be AnyDVD..... if you already have CloneDVD.... just download AnyDVD for it's 21 day free trial...... and Slysoft is offering a 20% discount! I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD! great programs..... simple and easy to use .... always updated for all the newer encryptions that come out! great to have..... but there are free programs, too .... like DVDFab HD Decrypter found here:

hey when I try to copy with DVDFab it asks if I want DVD9 or DVD5.. I copied in DVD5 because my dvds are only 4.7GB.. well when it finished and I went to put it on the DVD, it keeps telling me to put a dual layer disk in.. i shouldnt need a dual layer with only DVD5.. suggestions?

with dvd fab don't use full disc backup(if your original disc have full size of DVD-9),,try to use ""customize"" and disable some of ""audio sound"" that you don't want to reduce size of dvd and you get better image quality..maybe when you do full disc the target was exceed DVD5 (4400mb), i think this reason why it ask you to put dual layer disc...what version of dvd fab do you use? (platium?)..cheers..

You only need to keep one sound track for the movie keep the top one and uncheck the rest. The top one is the surround (5.1-6.1) sound track and the dvd will down convert if played thru just stereo.

select DVD9 and after the disc is ripped to your hdd you can edit out what you don't want when you load it into whatever compression software you are using.

Im trying now with eragon, I am getting errors even with DVDFab... there has to be a way around these...right?

it will analyze it and then give me an error when it reaches VTS_04.VOB
the error says "Error while reading" it gives me the option to ignore, ignore all, or abort.. if I hit ignore it progresses a little further. and successfully finished. when I put it in my dvd player it says unknown disk, and when I checked it on my PC, it doesn't show anything is on the DVD.. wtf..

please do not mention anything about movies that need to be returned as it is illegal to copy any dvd's other than the ones you own. under the circumstances, I will refrain from helping here anymore.
