My captured .AVI video looks awesome until a try to edit anything. When I add titles, etc,etc the quality of the video hits the skids big time. I have checked my authoring settings and I believe they are ok. The final product looks more blurred then other even more cheap editors that come with the video camera itself. To give you an idea the file size shrinks from 453KB to 867MB while still in .avi mode.
Any ideas???

Is the output settings on DV-AVI?

Also, you're not using VS to encode, right?

I think the output is MPEG2 & the file shows as a .VSP file.

You should keep the output as DV-AVI and use a separate encoder to make MPEG2 files.

Ulead's encoder is crap.

The file is now 3,909,401 KB which sounds alot better than the previous 808,000 KB it was. However, the this still looks blury (like crap) when I watch it on the computer from the file. I was told that due to a computer monitor being different than a TV it will look like crap until burned to a disc, is there any truth to this????

Well, yes. Usually, it will look better on a tv resolution.

Another factor to consider is the camcorder itself. If it's a lower model, the effective pixels recorded is really low contributing to a blurry picture.

I believe VS10 uses the MainConcept encoder, far from crap.

Yep that worked...

1) my bit rate was nor fast enough, so I changed that setting
2) now using Nero instead of the Ulead encoder.

thanks.
