More info on the computer please! Can only suggest bad cd drive, cable, media, etc. I wouldn't suggest kicking it, it will only anger the computer gods :)

All Computer Hardware is fine.
I tested all of it in other computers, interchanged hardware, aso far all the parts work.
There were no bad parts, and if there was a bad part then i would not even be able to get as far as the Initial XP Install screen.

Also one more thing, ntldr was missing on the drive, so i went ahead and popped in teh cd and did some recovery console magic on it.

Maybe thats just a small clue as to what could be wrong.-I did stick the hard drive in another computer and reformat it already so i am ready to rock and roll. Too bad it keeps locking up on me,

system specs would be helpful as it could be any number of things. like a video card installed and on board video being enabled. pull all your cards except the video and one stick of ram.... barebones the install if you haven't tried that yet. without knowing what you have in the system its just a shot in the dark!!!!

I have tried everything you could possibly think of, i am not the average computer user. Try something outside of the box. I had tried everything, ripped everything apart, tested it in new systems, barebones'd it everything.
Its got a Socket 478 2.4 GHZ Intel Pentium 4 ECS Mobo Serial #pv4xasd2+

1 Gig of ddr1 corsair extreme ram
80 gig hitachi deatthstar(excuse me) deskstar
Radeon 9800 Pro Video Card
Nice lookin keyboard and mouse.

That should be enough, i have tried cleaning parts, flashing the bios, i have tried every single part in another computer, i think that the ecs mobo is going out to be honest with you they are pieces or shit.

WOW! You need to listen to what im saying.

Its not the BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) its the freakin XP INSTALL SCREEN!

PcRepair - i have tried everything you said , xcept the window part because i actually need the computer.

The drive is fine, it copies files perfectly, whenever i go to boot from the cd, and it loads all the primary drivers for generic hardware(compatible with most hardware), then it gets to the screen asking whether i want to install go to the recovery console or exit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Then it freezes.

locks
me out

keyboard dies

everything stops

screen freezes

all hardware if functioning properly(it was tested in other machines)

all bios, and cmos was flashed and restored

everything is perfect...

now tell me what is wrong....

sorry I was reading it wrong

take a stick of ram from another computer and use that to load the windows

Something IS wrong so you will have to try one thing at a time
assuming <=bad thing to do , assuming the harddrive is ok and the cpu is ok then dodgy ram will do this
memtest is free from microsoft it tests ram in dos
harddrive diagnostics are free from the drive makers and they test in dos

i have already tried sticks of ram in the computer,

i reformatted and installed xp and formatted again on another computer with the hard drive, so that hard drives fine

the cpu in fine

if it wasnt the computer wouldnt start

the motherboard i think is the culprit, i am going to change the motherboard and see if that helps.

whats the psu like?

is it old? if it is and as it get a bit warm and put under a bit of stress its output drops causing the stall.

can you try another newwer or more powerful unit?

edit

i only ask this as i dont think you would get as far as you have if it was your mobo.

thank you for the specs, btw i did't accuse ya of being average ;).

I have worked with a few ecs boards and found them to be very quirky. try what ireland posted I have seen the issue of a stuck key cause a problem. AND it could also be that the board is just going south like you stated. If all your other parts are working fine in other systems I would highly suspect the board or the bios chip there on.
