I bought a Toshiba Laptop with a Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 with 8MB-256MB, And Windows VISTA :S. The first thing I did was to cast that evil spirit away and installing Windows xp sp2 original home edition. I found most drivers, I also found the latest XP drivers for my Gma950 but in the configuration screen and in dxdiag says I only have 8 to 32 mb of video memory!!! I tried some games and none worked but CS. Never less you can play CS with 32mb of video memory... Can't find any option or way to rise the memory, I almost gave up till I found you guys... Help me PLEASE!!!I NEED YOUR ETHERNAL WISDOM!!!

It is dynamic memory so it gets used on a as needed basis and if you don't need it the system uses it instead
not the type of graphics power for good games

i7 3770 12GB ram terrabyte sata drive 1 750Gb sata drive 285GTX graphics Sony dvdwriter same NZXT Nemesis case

how much ram do you have & have you been in the bios to change the amount assigned to the video?

I have 2 gigas of ram, and the bios won't let me adjust the memory, in fact, the bios doesn't say anything about the video card or memory allocation. The intel gma configuration software won't let me either. It's automatically allocated memory. With windows Vista worked just fine... I think they made this chipset to work only on windows vista... DAMM YOU BILL GATES!
Thank you ddp, I like you! ^_^

There must be a way to fix it, a soft to raise it. Coz my bios won't do. Some fixed new drivers or something.
Thanks pcrepair too!, You taste fantastic!
=P I know a thing or two about Pc's, Im shure there is some kind of problem with the video card.
This is my Notebook:

Toshiba
Satellite A205 Series Detailed Product Specification
Model Name:A205-S4577 Part Number: PSAF0U-01Q009 UPC: 032017833104
Operating System
? Genuine Windows Vista? Home Premium(32-bit version)
Processor and Chipset
Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology featuring:
? Intel® Core? 2 Duo Processor T53003
o 1.73GHz, 2MB L2, 533MHz FSB with 64-bit C1
? Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset

Im know the 945M chipset drivers that are the ones that include the video driver for the GMA950 are old or something (for windows XP). And Intel won't release fixed drivers. I don't know, Help me please! You rock!

I like you =P , but almost all that stuff is for windows Vista (Once more Damm you GATES!) and won't work with Windows XP. I'll try it now anyway. Thank you, people like you help to heal the world! the ones like Bill Gates only make it worse.

Didn't worked, the drivers won't work. They are only made for Vista. It seems I have no other choice... And the bios won't let me either. Help me Jesus!

Really need your help, i've instaled windows vista again and it sucks hard, I can't take it! If I download some other version of win xp will my old home edition xp key work? I guess not. Is linux compatible with my machine? Can somebody tell me how to get the freeking gma 950, (now that I think about it, is the whole chipset the problem, not just the graphic card) to work in win xp home edition? what should I do if I can't stand vista but want to use hardware that was made to work only with it?
Don't let me down guys, I know you are smart!

There is no solution, I coudn't find one as the great people here. I would install both, install vista and delete all the stuff it comes with to run games or heavy soft, and use Xp every other day, when you just want to listen music, write, burn, or do something that can be done with 32 mb of video memory. It works just fine with anything.
Im mad with microsoft right now, so I'll try to swich to Linux. Windows is too comercial! Im tired of all their shit! I heard Linux has Windows emulators, so I might be able to use their soft anyway. I don't know, but I will try it in some weeks. Next time buy a Mac, they are fast, stable, have no viruses, no stupid windows defender or other stupid software, they have microsoft Office! and you are cool if you have a mac. And also gay. But you have to try everything!

I Installed suse 10 linux, and it worked fine! Have no sound, or internet, but wireless works and the video card too. Now I know the problem is not the video card driver, the problem is the motherboard's drivers!. Any ideas? I guess I will format this thing 4 or 5 times more, to see if something changes. anither subject, is my windows vista is for 32 bits processors and I have a 64 bits one, It slows down or something?
Thanks guys you rock like Jack Black!

Ok, It's a fact Linux sux! Not as much as Vista, but the only thing I want is a stupid OS that is stable and can run the aplications I want to use or will want. XP is good for that, I wish this hthread wasn't dead, I wish somebody knew something about THE evil Bill Gates did to my notebook. I wish things could be like before, just one Os to rule them all. We are in a transition period, things aren't quite right now.

Hmm, two things you'll need to bear in mind are that the GMA950 often has problems playing CS:S in XP(Although the original 1.6 should be fine) and also, Linux isn't always the best bet for games.

I don't want Vista or Linux. I just want something stable and fast, and Vista IS fast but crashes far too much. I guess I should wait for a Vista SP2 or something like that. And an Aero Basic theme that doesn't suck! Or to get used to those glassy windows.
Thanks for all the help! I really appreciate it. I will miss you. That's why I'll be back!

Come on be reasonable, Vista barely crashes. I have Vista Ultimate Edition running on a Celeron D 300 at 2.66 GHZ, with 512MB PC2700 RAM, no vid card(Built in GFX, Intel 845GV), crappy generic Mobo and Vista runs fine.

That's actually why. The faster your PC, the worse Vista runs. A 2.0Ghz P4 laptop from years back had to wait 3 seconds before the installer came up. It took 4 minutes on my mate's 4200+, 6 minutes on my E4300, and 8 when it was overclocked.
