public sites are pretty slow and some can be very unreliable as far as what is uploaded. Private sites you need to keep a good ration but they are faster and have great uploaders. And it depends on your internet connection speed. If you have something like a 1MB connection then do not expect high speeds anywhere.
Personally i would say you need to look into getting a Rapidshare account and find out what "warez" are.
The other option is newsgroups, but they are harder to use for someone who is use to torrents where it is click & download.
Both will cost you as they charge for the service. But Rapidshare for example is $43 for a 6 month premium account and with that you get up to 25MB worth of downloads per week. and speeds are WAY better. $43 a month (100GB) or $60 a game, you do the math.
above is correct, Limewire is one of the most unsecure programs out there and i would never use it.

oops, yes it was Rapidshare costs $43 for a 6 month premium membership and your limit is 25GB a week to download. If you go over that they just stop the download and you can add the links back when your new week starts.
