Upgrading dell 4600 to dual core

I am interested in upgrading my dell 4600 to a core 2 duo processor and motherboard. I want to keep my case if possible, as I have modded it and like it like it is. I also want to keep my agp slot and stay with ddr1 dual channel. Does anyone have any suggestions on a processor/motherboard combo that will work for me? If I have to change power supplies that is ok. It probably needs upgraded anyway.

Thanks for the replies. I would like to spend less than $200.00. I did not say earlier but I need four ddr1 slots. I really appreciate the replies.

Your case will work with a standard mATX motherboard the case wiring connectors will have to be changed out to standard 1x1 or 1x2 header connectors.
Heres mine with E6600 Core2Duo but with DDR-2 and PCI-E.
Here's the changes to the wiring needed.

might have to change the psu as most dell psu's are wired for only dell board & they will fry non-dell boards & maybe other components.

Dell started to use standard Atx psu starting somewhere around 2002 and up models.I would upgrade to a better one though.

Your case looks awesome. Thanks for the info. I am going to do a little thinking before I make a decision. My system works fine. I just always want something better but do not want to just get a new computer.

Yea,i like the Dimension 3000,4600 style cases too.Ive got about 12 total:)

I'm noticing a common theme with the Corsair PSUs and the CNPS9500. Good choices.
As for the dell PSU I doubt it will fry the wrong motherboard, you may just need to modify the shape of the connectors, but it would make sense replacing it anyway just to be safe. I'm surprised that it's actually doable with that model. A lot of dell units have funny shaped holes for the power supplies so they can't be replaced.

Yea, the 4600 has an open back so it will accept a standard atx PSU.The Dell PSU has standard connectors on that model also so it will work with a standard motherboard but is only 250 watt unit.
The Dimension B110,1100,2300, 2350, 2400, 3000, 4600,4700 and Optiplex 170L all use that same Chassis.You can use any standard mATX motherboard
in them.
