lol the 'common' is that if you get it right there is no problem
if you muck up and call out people like me, more often than not the fault is bios settings :) new boards are adapted it's only the older boards have this type of problem

mostly this is the difference between reading a lot, and actually doing the hands on, You look at the modern stuff and forget that old stuff still exists
but it seems mostly you do a good job :)

My old VIA chipset Socket A board, which should be of a similar date to this (Manufactured June 2003) also automatically arranged my S-ATA for me. Not having come across a board that doesn't led me to assume they all did. I stand corrected.

I HAVE THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM!

Except I used to run my SATA and then installed an ATA drive. Sounds like you had the ATA and added the SATA drive.

I still havent figured it out. It doesnt detect my SATA drive either, tried both slots, tried enabling and disabling IDE mode, tried bios updates. AHHHHH..

I'm running a different motherboard its an intel D865PERL

is this a oem hdd if so its a raw hdd and you have to run a mf disk utility on it to make it useable
