Nobody got any ideas why this disc won't read in an HP 200i? I thought you guys were smarter than that! Where's all the experts?

Have you tried reading it in a plain old DVD-ROM drive? Any friends/family have a different brand DVD-ROM or burner you could try the disc in to figure out if it is the drive or the disc? Just a thought.

What the hell is a Lite-On LTD-166S? Sounds like a spaceship from Star Trek. Never heard of that model. I think it may be that the HP doesn't like DVD's with the printed surface on the disc. I dunno. It still won't read it.

LMFAO.......just wait it's coming again....LMFAO.....

No mention of it being an original or backup.....this would be a start, but hey I'm no expert...

No offense intended, just some weekend humour...

If you list what your are attempting....ripping an original or playing a backup...this would help....

If it is a backup, then list your method and programs/media you used......this would enable 'all the experts' to give you some pointers

Yes boss, it's a factory made disc. Off the shelf. It plays in my Zenith player. It won't play in my PC. Simple as that. The HP 200i just won't read it. All I want to know is maybe if it's a PAL disc, then this could be the problem? If I knew, I wouldn't be asking THIS QUESTION. I noticed the HP doesn't like the printed surfaces on some discs but it will read them after reinserting the disc a few times. Does anybody else have this disc? Thank you all so much, oh honorable ones.....I can take the abuse, so let me have it. LOL....whatever ...I went to the "how to make friends page" and I fell in love with the group counselor...

Oh, it is NTSC, so that eliminates that.

Did you try any other DVD drives yet? I've used DVD Shrink to back it up with perfect results. The disc reads in my LiteOn DVD- ROM as well as my Sony burner.

Does your HP work....ie will it read other originals OK and is it just this dvd that is giving you problems?

What program are you using to try and play the dvd?

It won't read the disc at all. When I put it in the tray,it just blinks a few times and quits. I'm just using explorer to look at the disc. It won't fire up with HP's Power DVD at all. So, the PC won't read it and it won't play with Power DVD. If I click on the DVD drive in My Computer, it says the disc might be corrupted or is in a format that is not compatible with windows. I'd just like to know what format they did this disc in. It's a stumper.

Put in another original, one you that works....does it read that one OK?

If it does, then it can only be the disc......sounds like a possible bootleg disc to me and not an original.....

What region are you in and what region is the disc?

Thats a statment, yet you formatted it as a question. however, if you had inserted Has at the beginning of it, the question would stand. Therefore, i declare that i am smart, in relation to your question. Here little wabbit, come to Chris.......Rarr
