Ah right, nah i've not seen any monitor with that res, I think he must mean home cinema rather than Apple cinema monitor.

As for the X1900GT, not sure, I wouldn't, but then I paid far more for my GPU than you did.

I have been thinking about getting a 30" Dell for about 4 years.
Funny that, I saw one of those in person, thought "I want one". A few weeks later I looked on ebay, found one for cheap and bought it...
What I'll say is while it's an awesome monitor, you can't just attach one to any old PC...

I've never messed with conductive pen, there's so many chances for you to do it wrong, and on most GPUs or CPUs they've changed the material so conductive pen can no longer be used.

I'll try it when I have a problem running my games. Right now it delivers awesome performance(to me at least, I just need it on par with my 360), so I'm not messing around with it, especially since I can't buy another one for the same price if I mess this one up.

I read on an article last night that giving your card more voltage wont give it more over clocking head room. Its just to increase stability if you have problems with the stock speeds and the card isn't delivering enough performance.

The people at that forum are getting about 100 mhz more on the core speed by overclocking. The thing is their volatge regulators are getting too hot so I wont be trying it out right now.

Mine already do. What would you say is 'too hot?' Both me and my friend Nick get around 100-105C on the VRegs after prolonged gaming.

No I'm not saying they go 100 Mh more from STOCK. I'm saying the most they can overclock the GPU, after they volt mod it, it's an extra 100 Mhz because of the voltage.

Where I live a person is selling a 7950 GX2 for 350 OBO. I could probably make him go down to 300. I wish I had the money.

Oh BTW my card supports VIVO. What is the use of this?

Anyone want to rename this to the official ATI thread?

It's mainly been X1950XTs so I think the thread title should stay.
On the 7950GX2, it still isn't worth it. To be beaten by an 8800GTS, and the fact that you need the game to support SLI for it to be at all fast, they just aren't for me at all.

VIVO = Video in, Video out. Have a guess! lol

So I hooked it up to my Karaoke(no I don't sing lol, but it has a tv built in) machine and it looked like crap. Although I have a 65 inch LCD HDTV so I thought Hey lets download HD movies and watch them on my HDTV! I don't have a player yet so this is the only way.

Hey I thought the 8800 ultra was the fastest card nvidia had, 8800 ultra chart shows 14,900 fill but then I looked at another fill rate page I had saved, and this is showing the card abuzar wants to pick up for $300: 7950 GX2 chart shows 16,000 fill!!

That is some strong fill - very powerful numbers!!

It looks to me like the GX2 is the most powerful Nvidia card (is that right, or is there something I am missing?)

Actually I just checked and Sam is right, the 8800 GTS is more powerful than that card. More fill rate doesn't equal more performance I guess.

Abuzar, how did you do it? An s-video cable? You need to really use DVI to HDMI, VGA to VGA, or VGA to Component with an HDTV.

Rich: The 7950GX2 is feeble and weak behind the 8800 Ultra, even the GTS has it beat. It's simply the case that while the 7950GX2 has a massive fill rate, it uses two 7900GTs, which are slow, especially if the game doesn't support SLI properly. It's probably one of the best two-cards-in-one you'll see for a while, since Crossfire is rubbish, but that still doesn't make it worth buying in today's market.

man I really want that 8950GX2. I hope nvidia is coming out with something like that.

As for my upgrade, I think I'll wait till Q1 08 and see what new things come out. I believe that's when nvidia will be releasing their next lineup of cards. Also, the new 8800GTS is coming out, and the 8800GT (above the 8800GTS, but lower than the GTX) is coming out very soon as well.

a GT ABOVE a GTS?
Why?
All the past models nvidia has made suggest an 8800GT'll be a baseline 8800 card which it should be. If you're going to stick something in between the GTS and GTX it should be, i dunno GTR.

Those benchmarks, however, all have one thing in common. The card isn't released yet. The 'benchmarks' released for the 2900XT before it came out were mostly complete rubbish. These may or may not be any different. Whilst that's a fitting position for a mid-position card to be in, I fail to see why they've chosen the odd naming scheme if it's a better card.
Let's look at those specs in detail. Higher core and memory speeds than the 8800GTS, but then so has the 8600!
Now look at the memory interface and bandwidth. Only 256MB 256-bit memory. In no way will I ever consider a card with that much memory superior to one built off the same platform with 640MB. I don't recommend the 320MB 8800GTS to many because it hasn't got enough memory, that one's going to be even worse.

Fair enough, but note it's still less than the GTS, and the memory bandwidth is also lower.

But the GT gets a higher score in 3dmark06, so why is it better? I wont be getting a GT or a GTS, it'll either be a 8800 or one of the next cards that come out in Q1.
