Below is part of the log from my last error regarding "Disc at once error"
What I want to do is remove Nero 6. I've already done the clean tool, twice and Nero 6 keeps showing up as using interface version 6.3.1.4!

Are you using Shrink in this log?
If you are that's why the interface shows a version from 6.

Why it does that - don't really know.

I keep learning from you Binkie! I had no idea that Shrink does that to Nero!

I could be wrong.
But from my own logs and ones posted here that's what I've deducted when using Shrink :)

YES... I'm using shrink....
Thanks after four clean tools and deletes!
Now, Binkie7 or anyone else who can understand this mess!
Please read my last log and tell me that I don't have to stop using Nero and use ImgBurn!

Oh, by the way, the log does not show up in Vista. I have to make sure I copy it from the window that shows up after the error, which disappears after you click OK....

This log is a toughy LDLDL
You're getting KEY_NO_SENSE & SCSI command aborted

ImgBurn works but Nero isn't?

I'm thinking that there's a compatibility between Vista, Nero and your drive. Not exactly what you want to hear.

Did the drive come with the pc? You might want to check the pc manufacturers website and see if they have any updates.
Some like Dell have had a few pc updates or drive firmware updates for issues w/ Vista.

Oh and from the Nero log this is one way you can tell it's Vista - Windows XP 6.0. XP shows Windows XP 5.1

I think it's my drive which did come with my computer. After a lot of digging, I found out that Samsung does not support the drive, therefore I can not do any firmware updates. The drive will be replaced soon.
I didn't try ImgBurn, but I did try DVD Decryptor and that worked.
Thanks for your help!

Not a problem LDLDL
Since Decrypter works to burn then it's definitely looking like a conflict somewhere between Nero, Vista and the drive.
Hopefully the new drive will fix that.

Download ImgBurn if you haven't - it's the updated burning part of Decrypter. Good burning program - it's all I use for dual layer.

I probably won't buy the burner until Sunday afternoon... Big wedding today! Buy the way, I just downloaded the updated version of Nero hoping that it would in some small way in the back of my mind would solve all of my problems.... NOT!!!!
I'm convinced it's the drive... I'm really dissapointed in HP/Compaque!
Could you tell me why I now have two Nero's in my control panel?
One is for 2.54GB, the other is for 1.47GB. Do I delete one or do I do a complete deletion and install the new version again?

Drive still under warranty? I'd call HP and make them replace it if it is.

You shouldn't have 2 Nero's in control panel - I would uninstall both using the clean tool. Reboot.
Run a registry cleaner like the free ccleaner. Use the issues and cleaner options.
Run a virus scan. Now reinstall Nero.

Have a good time at the wedding!

Thanks....
By the time they get to replacing it with the same crap, I might as well buy a new one. I am going to buy an HP burner... (1040I) I think. I just can't understand why they would put a Samsung burner in a HP computer?????
I'll delete everything again!!!! And re-install.
I'm determined to get Nero to work for me as I've always used Nero for the last seven or eight years.
I've downloaded ImgBurn, but don't have the time to try it out.

Forget the HP burner go directly to the source - look at LiteOn or Pioneer both good.
In fact LiteOn makes that HP. I think your better off going directly w/ LiteOn - they offer better support on their drives then HP does.

HP looks at cost so the TSST - which is Toshiba-Samsung - bought in large quantity is probably more cost effective for them.

ImgBurn is very easy - good burning program. I prefer it over Nero for burning dual layer.

Hey there garmoon - I'm surviving :)
Hope all is good w/ you!

edit to add: LDLDL - don't know if this will help you but since I updated to Nero's latest I noticed the burn log that it automatically creates (successful or not) wasn't in the usual place.
I found them under - documents & settings>my name (or whatever you have you pc named)>application data>ahead. The was a log file in this folder then in the Burning Rom, Vision, and Recode folders they were logs for them.

Good evening!!!!
Here is the latest log from when I tried to back up "The Last Mimzy"
I still got the error, however, the movie backed up perfectly.
I know my one mistake was to burn at 16x when it should have been at 8x or below.

Hey LDLDL
Wow the 1st one failed right at the end. I'm taking it the dvd still plays?
The next log it failed in the beginning.

You're still getting SCSI command aborted which is basically saying something is erroring in the communication command to the drive.

Can you still burn successfully with Decrypter or ImgBurn?

I appreciate so much the time you are taking with me and the others who need help.

Yes, the DVD plays, in fact I have five copies of Pride and Five copies of Shooter, and to test your theory, I now have a copy of The Last Mimzy (actually two). As for ImgBurn, this is the error message I got. I don't know how to get a burn error log from this, so I wrote it down.

ImgBurn:

Snycronise Cashe Failed
Device [1:0:] TSST COPP CD/DVD W TS-H652M 0414 (E:)(ATA)

Reason:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Not a problem LDLDL :)
Looks like ImgBurn is failing at the end too - right before the disc finalizes.

To get a log in ImgBurn just press "L" before you begin.

I'm leaning to the drive too.

I'm not familiar w/ Vista but try uninstalling the drive and then the ide channel in device manager. In XP right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager. Not sure if this is the same path for Vista.

OK... I'm not too familiar with this process.
To uninstall the drive, do I go into control panel?
How do I uninstall the ide channel?
If this messes up on my Vista computer, I still have my old backup of an XP, which by the way is still running with the help of the Belkin "flip"....
When Vista "pissesssssssss" me off (which it does often), I flip the switch and go to the "ole trusted XP"
Thanks again.... You're GREAT!

binkie7...
I forgot that I read how to get the ImgBurn Log...

In my last post, I didn't mention that I tried to burn the new movie I recently purchased, "Premonition"

Well, I tried to burn through ImgBurn and got an error...

Well here it is!

Nope it shouldn't hurt anything. Yeah I'm sticking with the ole trusty XP for now - things are running too smoothly :)

In XP - not sure on Vista you right click on my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager. Here's a guide for uninstalling the ide to turn dma back on - link.

For the drive you would go to the same place just instead of right clicking on the ide channel- right click on the drive listed under dvd/cd drives.

One thing that pops out in the ImgBurn log is this - DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied.
Check that out. Here's a post by the developer of ImgBurn on that - link.
Process Explorer that you would run is also Vista Compatible.

Yeah, that's what I got!
Still, I feel that I'm going to get a lot of errors until I replace this "@#$%%^" DVD Drive!!!

lol - I'd still check them out - can't hurt and their free :)
I'm also thinking even though it's worded differently - Nero is giving the same message too.
