Ripping DVD to WMV questions

I am looking to backup my DVDs on my harddrive, but I also want to be able to pull them to play through the media center on my xbox360. I think xbox360 can only play WMV files, and I was wondering which program would be best to use to rip into the WMV format. Also, would I lose the 5.1 DD Surround Sound when using that format, because it is very important that I do not. Thanks for the help!

well, I cant attest to say that the Xbox plays WMV files becasue mine does not. However if you have your xbox moded that is a differ story, but if it is, then it is prolly for DivX.

xbox does play wmv files. I am also looking for a good way to rip to WMV for the same reason. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If possible I would like to go both from Video_TS folders to wmv and from DVD to wmv
