The file you sent me is sndvol32.exf, is this the right file (I thought it was .exe)?

I stuck it into the right folder and It is still telling me the volume control program is not installed.

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Read what I said in my private message, I have to rename it exf so it gets past security filters. The file is safe, I've virus scanned it, but email programs won't usually let you send .exe files as attachments, just as a precaution.

Everything seems to be working fine except I have no sound what so ever.

Maybe I should just go back to a system restore point.

You use a Soundblaster live, that has some of its own software right? What happens when you try using that?

Your sound card is a SoundBlaster Live! Series. They usually come with their own software to control them, not just the windows volume control. Do you have anything in your Start->Programs under the name 'Creative'
if not, reinstall the sound card using the CD. If you don't have it, you should either pay Creative to send another, or download the basic drivers from the site.

I restored my comp to last week, didn't help any.

Yes, there is an option in my creative to restore defaults, should I use that?

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

I'm going to bed for now, this is really depressing.

How does sound just go away from a computer?

When files go missing.
Lol it sounds like one of those discovery channel programs "when files go missing 3"
Joking aside though, it's annoying, and I've been there too before, so I know how it feels.

I am only working 8 hrs today, so I will probably have time to try again tomorrow.

Creative diagnostics didn't notice anything wrong.

I'm probably going to go all through all of this crap to find out my sound card or speakers are busted.

Its so depressing!

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Yep, have you tried plugging your speakers into something other than your PC?

Right now I am at verifying the speaker cables.

I will do what you guys said later, woke up late and have to get to work!

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Does it matter if on the speakers, you accidentally plug the left speaker into the right speaker spot?

There are so many cables back here it would take a long time for me to sort them out to know.

I woke up early and have 3 hours to try to fix this, so I am going at it.

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!

Not other than the fact that your sound will be reversed, and you can often get software to correct that anyway.

Wow you are right, it is pretty sick to hear your DS's sound coming out of speakers, awesome!

I just gotta untangle the line out cord from all the others so it has room to stretch, THE SPEAKERS ARE GOOD!

OMG! THE SOUND IS BACK! IT WAS ALL MY FAULT, I WAS PLUGGING THE SOUND INTO THE COMPUTER INSTEAD OF THE SOUND CARD, BOTH HOLES ARE GREEN AND I DIDN'T SEE THE SOUND CARD HOLES!

I feel like such an idiot punk now, sorry to be wasting your time guys. At least something good came out of this, I was able to replace the windows volume control program thanks to Sam.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Now it is time to get back to trying to get the 250GB HDD to be my master.

Thanks to everyone for enlightening me!
