I have had a problem for a really long time, and now i really want to play my games.
The problem is that my games do not play. Backups and real games don't work. I am able to install the games and when i double click the shortcut, (or just launch the game) I will get as far as the first screen or the loading screen for that game. Then my computer will freeze. So i am forced to turn it off or restart.
Again, the actual disc or backup discs don't work. I have directx 9, and i have updated it.
So, how can i play my games? Thanks.

Could be drivers, or an overheating problem. My old comp would do the same thing and it was because of overheating.
Comp
-6-core 3.2 AMD, 12gb DDR3, Geforce femi 560ti, Running Win7 x64
Laptop
-Dual boot Win7 + Ubuntu 11.10 Gnome Classic

Overheating, Really?
I was using google and reading someones problem similar to mine, and someone mentioned something about overheating. Some of my games load fine and some do not. I just installed Everest Home. Is there a way i can check to see if my computer was overheating with that?
What do you recommend i do if my computer is actually overheating?
An off topic question: I was thinking of reformatting. Do you know if i can use the same serial to activate windows if i am installing the same os from the same disc?
Thanks

I dont know much about it but I do know that you can change the speed of the fan on the tab Readings. You can put the percentage up to 100%. Thats all I know sorry. You can check their website though.

If you have the same slots on the labtop and the pc, either a pci, an agp, or a pci express slot.

I just bought a video card and installed it with a lot of trouble. I don't know if all the settings are right, but my games still freeze.

Mine use to do that too. When I added an extra gig of ram the comp completely froze and I couldn't move the mouse at all. I fixed that by doing a bios update on the motherboard. I dunno if that is your problem, but its a possibility.

You do have graphics drivers installed right? Are they up to date?

Even if they weren't up to date the game would still load in "software" mode but it would take a longer time. It could be over heating like they said above. But it depends on how how your processor is. If your using a gigabyte board or idk if it matter. Download Easy Tune 5.

Thanks for the replies.
Hmm, how do i do a bios update?
I just reinstalled the driver for my Radeon card, and nothing seemed to change. Driver up to date? I just got the card and installed it so i assume they are up to date. I will check to see if theres a newer version. I will also see what i can do with EasyTune 5.

You mean a BIOS flash? Perhaps. The golden rule I'd say here is to have your PC on a backed-up power supply. If the power goes down during a BIOS flash, your motherboard could well be permanently damaged.

I was reading the read me and it sounds difficult for me. I don't like to do things that could screw up my computer. If i just got a different video card, do you think that i would be able to play games?
If getting a new video card isn't the solution, i was thinking of reformatting or doing a system restore to about 5-6 months ago. I just wanted to double check- If i do a system restore i won't lose any documents/files, but i will lose programs? i checked my system restore program and i saw that i cant restore any earlier than June 20th. Then restoring to then wouldn't make a difference because i still had the problem then.
Thanks

Given that you've just told us that you did and it didn't work, I doubt it. Are you able to reinstall windows?

Well the video card i had before sucked. It was terrible. The one i have now is alright, but i don't think the card is installed correctly. So maybe getting a different card and installing it might work? I don't know.
I know how to reformat. Its just that i am worried that i cant use the same serial another time. I have only used the serial once. I took it to a computer place and the guy fixed it up and reformatted giving me a serial. I don't know if he used it before?
