i have a 256mb microvault usb plug and play 2.0usb speed and when i plug it in there was a bubble hardware not found so there must be something with the driver so i downloaded and installed it it still didnt work plzz help i need solutions i gt a lot of important files.

Does anything of its description appear in the device manager? if not, you may have to replace it. USB sticks are supposed to be always plug and play.

depends on the windows version as in win98se you need a driver installed for the stick to work.

That's true, forgot about people who don't use XP. I'm going to assume nobody uses Me (ugh, nobody should ever have used it), but does 2000 support PnP support? I think it does, but I'm not certain.

Yup, so unless you use 98, or a non-plug and play non-windows OS, I think it's replacement time.

i have xp sp2 home edition also it says usb nott reconized so it works but i cant open it

Actually USB not recognised means it doesn't work. it means it knows you've plugged something into a USB port, but that something, whatever it may be, is broken.

I thought driver problems just made the hardware insert noise and then either "found new hardware" or just nothing happened. Didn't know drivers could cause the 'this device has malfunctioned' bubble.
