DVD-R not recognized as a writer

I have a brand new IBM T60 with DVD-RAM HL-DT-ST GSA-4083N. I can use the DVD as a reader but not as a writer, neither CD nor DVD. I tried with another DVD (same GSA-4083N), same problem. I deleted the device in hardware device manager. It is recreated at windows restart, but same problem. It had worked fine for the first 5 days, then I installed sth I suppose, that made it seen by XP as a DVD reader only.
Any Idea ?
