Hi, I'm using ConvertXtoDvd to convert .avi files to dvd. Im having a problem with one particular movie (transformers). When I played the burned DVD on my home player the video works fine, but the sound is messed up (scratchy/skipping sound). I think the video file is in PAL format (according to ConvertX), but i did set it to convert to NTSC. Also I am burning at 4x speed if that makes a difference. I've tried searching the forum but can't find a clear resolution. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You

When you play the burned DVD in the PC, how is the audio?
When you play the original AVI, how is the audio?

Try burning the output with IMGBurn instead of ConvertX.

http://www.imgburn.com/

Run ImgBurn
Mode > 'Build'
Output > 'Device'
File > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Click the green write button.

Consider using 'Verbatim' media.

Maybe it's because it's a cam video the audio is bad on the player.

Drag the AVI on to GSpot and get the audio info (lower left)

yeah i saw that program in another thread, the sound played fine when i pressed both "1" and "2" under MS A/V

the audio info is
codec: 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3
info: 44100Hz 128 kb/s tot , Joint Stereo LAME3.90.
It says codec installed

Hi all,
I have experienced the exact same problem with the same movie on 2 differant computers and using both convertxtodvd and dvd flick, so I am slowly narrowing the problem down to maybe a codec issue? I have even right clicked on the sound stream when in convertxtodvd and selected "play" and it plays fine. Sound is scratchy/scrambled on the dvd player after conversion however. Any help would be appreciated before this drives me insane.

Get Vdub surround, go to Streams, set to Full processing, under compression choose No compression and save a WAV file. Play it, if it sounds fine go back, add it back and disable the original. Set Video at Direct Stream copy and save it. Try encoding your new file, which now has WAV audio and see how it goes.
