The 7700 should be better in every application.
The 7600 is better than the 8500, so common sense tells me that a 7700 will be better than an 8400!

Ok cool... My parents said that I couldnt have a 3000$ laptop for school, so they limited the budget to 2000 and I found 2 laptops on newegg for under that, one that has a 8400 and another that has a Go7700.
Thanks for all you help guys!

Yeah, 7700 for the win. I'd be satisfied with $2000 for a laptop, that's pretty good! Except for not having 3GB of RAM, it'll almost certainly be faster than your desktop!

Lol I did get given almost $2000 at the current exchange rate, but I can't spend it, it's going into savings. Oh well, probably for the best I suppose!

The government is paying for my studies, but I have a savings account anyway, for when I need to start paying it back!

I don't, the way the system works over here is that you have to pay £3000/year for tuition fees plus whatever else you need to live, pay for student accommodation and so on. All this is given to you in the form of a student loan (totalling around £7000/year) which you start paying back as soon as you're earning more than £15,000/year. The loan has no interest other than the rate of inflation, and can be paid back over a variable length of time. What hasn't been paid back after 30 years is written off.

Yeah, but I don't have to pay it back. The US Navy pays for your studies, in return you work for them(Not for free Of course), they just want Doctors that really want to be in the Navy.
