For the past week, my Internet has been acting up. Every hour or two my Internet will continually work and not work, on and off, for about 30 minutes. It's will then even out for an hour then do it again. I don't know what the issue is. Modem? Router? I'm looking for anyone who has an idea of the problem.

if its not a virus of some kind it could be a dodgey modem, nic or internet connection.
first i would check for all kinds of malware (ask in the virus threads about the best ways to check) then i would try reseting your modem/router if that fails to make it any better i would contact my isp and tell them that their service is crap and unless they do somthing to make your connection more stable you will be looking for another provider.

WHat modem/router etc. do you use? A lot of modems have heat problems, and I mean a lot (probably 70-80% of them) so it's not unlikely. If it feels quite warm after that, then it may be wise to take some steps to cool it better.

Can a virus effect 4 computers? How do you reset the router? And I'll get back to you on the heat problem.

well if they have any shared resources it is quite possible yes. you could just try turning it of for a few minutes and then back on again, or check the manual for more details.
if its heat then turning it off for longer periods of time when its not being used might help.

to rest your router just turn of the power of the wireless router and wait 30 secs before turining it on. If your router is hot leave it off till it cools down then turn the power on and see if that does the trick

It's a common issue now, to avoid it, only click reply once. Open a new browser window and go to that thread, then refresh the page. If your message is there, no need to hit reply again.
