everytime we try to burn a dvd using nero vision 4, we manage to create the menu, get to the 'burn option' and then after a few minutes of transcoding it crashes and says it has encountered an error and needs to close.
we have no idea what the problem is and it is driving us crazy... any help would be appreciated :)

Go here, locate your History log and post it so we can take a look
Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory

Hi There,
Nero History log is requested because it'll help members pinpoint the exact reason why your nero is crashing.
Failing that, please provide more information - is it an .avi file you're trying to transcode?
What nero version are you using?

i understand why the log is requested, but i cant post it because it simply isnt there.
we are using nero 7 (vision 4)
have windows XP SP2
are trying to encode avi files
it starts transcoding and you can see it in the little preview window, then all of a sudden it stops...
then the wiondows error window pops up saying nero has encountered a problem and needs to close,
no further information is given.
I would really appreciate your help and am sorry that i cant post the log...

Not to worry, there's usually a way around these things ...
You can use the free VSO DivxToDVD to convert your .avi file to a DVD format and then burn it with Nero BurningRom.
Download here
and guides here

After you're done with the above project, you could consider re-installing your nero.
First, Please make sure you have your Nero 7 serial number so you can reinstall Nero
Then, download and run Nero 7 cleantool, from here.
And download & install the latest Nero 7 update from here.
