well yes, as long as it is locked into a network within UK, not any other networks, like mine which is in canada, which is unlockable to this date

i have a nokia 5300 imei 354554/01/521852/0056687 brought it off ebay turned it on when i got it and said secutrity code so i took it to mobile shop they ran the number and said it was from malaysia does anyone know how to get it off or have the security code or master code for malaysia

i don't know which provider it was through when i contacted them they said they had a vodafone sim in it but i have a vodafone sim i can't even turn it on just get the message security code

the phone lock you are talkign about i beleive is to be some sort of phone security lock, not a network barrier lock for which u need to "unlock" the phone.
in your case, the phone just has a 4 or 6 digit lock code on it, you have to figure that out yourself or go to yur desired service provider and they can usually do it for you .
