Am using DVD Shrink to rip and Nero 6 to burn to DVD in a Sony DRU510A on +R media. Back-up copies work fine in my Apex and RCA DVD players and in the Sony burner in the computer. Also have a NEC DV-5800A in the computer that fails to detect any of my back-up copies either through Power DVD or Windows Explorer. Any solution or advice concerning this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks---Wayne

Hi Rotary,
I am using no multisession. But I am unfamiliar with the add-video tab. Could you please elaborate on this a little further. I do not see this feature in my Nero 6. thanks-Wayne

hi all
instead of udf/iso tab to start use add-video as nero 6 users use this for best results!
and it puts 2 folders in for you in the browser wind VIDEO_TS AUDIO_TS the latter not needed!
Thx..
what are you useing? nero burning rom or nero vision express?

I am using Nero Burning Rom. in the new compilation window I use DVD-Video. I add my files to the Video_ts folder and leave the audio_ts folder alone. I still see no option anywhere for add-video tab that you spoke of. Or, are you referring to something in Nero Express? I use all the settings in the new compilation window as the defaults, not changing anything except the no multisession selection. thanks--Wayne

We're all allowed to make mistakes sometimes. I did a great one a day or two ago saying that DVD2One join mode allows you to split too lol. Oops

Hi all,
And sorry about your bad day, Oriphus. I know how it is as I have too many of them too often!
Could it, by any chance be the +R media??? A friend suggested that this might be the problem. Anybody, help me fix this problem?? It really has my mind on only one thing lately! And it bugs tje hell out of me that I can't fix it. Thanks--WayneC

If the disc is playing fine in your standalones and Sony Burner, then i would hazard a guess that your settings in Nero are indeed correct and the DVD has be burnt succesfully. Therefore, it leaves you wondering whether or not there is a problem with your NEC DV5800?

I would take that as a good possibility except that the Sony DRU-510A(only 3 weeks old), that ripped and burned the backup dvd's, also does not read all of the backup disks that I have burned. Some disks are not detected at all, while I get an error message on other disks that it is possibly damaged or may need cleaning. And all of these dvd's play exceptionally well in two DVD players that are connected to my television, one is an Apex and the other an RCA. No problem at all with these reading the backup dvd's. Sooooo, any more thoughts on this from anyone?????????? Any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks--WayneC...

OK-Tried -R media last night. The first two burns were unsuccessful and only about 25% and 50% of the each dvd got burned. Both drives in the computer detected and played the partially burned dvd's quite well. The 3rd burn was successful and neither one of the drives would play the disk. I got an error message in both drives that the disk may have been damaged and might be unable to play. So, this has led me to believe that in closing the disk, Nero is making the dvd un-playable for some reason. Are there some settings in Nero that need to be changed??? Again, any solution to this problem will be greatly appreciated.........Thanks--WayneC

Sorry Wayne, a little off-topic, but how long does it usually take your 510A to burn a back up with Nero? might be my slow system, but it takes me 40 minutes usually...
I have an athlon 1400+ with only 256megs of ram.

Off-topic,,,no problem.
Using a Pentium 4, 1000 Mhz & 384 megs of ram.
With +R media, about 28 minutes @ 2.4 speed.
With -R media, about 15 minutes @ 4. speed.
