Hello everyone!!

I've been working with my pc for about 4 years with not big problems at all , but a year ago, the psu fan started making some strange noises (I must say that it all started when we were on winter and the temperature of the room where it´s placed the pc become to low); now the problem is that the fan completely stopped working, but i still can get to work apparently fine.

Also after some attempts of turning on an off the pc (about 2 or 3 tries), suddenly the fan starts working

my question, is it time to get a new PSU or how can I fix the problem?

could it be a voltage problem? (my PSU is a common one, max power 300 watts)

hope someone can help me

thanks in advance

fan needs to be lubricated but might be better off getting a new psu. had 1 customer whose psu fan had stopped for a long time but computer was left on. turned the computer off to check something & couldn't start the computer again. all the capacitors were domed so needed a new psu.

Before you get a new psu, consider the fact that most psu's fans will start up at a certain temperature, to save power. Mine does that so I don't think your psu has a problem since it will start the fan when the psu gets to a certain temp.

hello

i haven´t tried to work for a long time without the psu fan (maybe 10 minutes or so and when i tried it the psu fan did not start),i read that this could damage your mother board in another thread,i´m not sure about that.

at the moment the fan is working fine, maybe it´s something related to the voltage too, i´m in mexico and energy supply has had some problems for quit some time ,although so far with no consequences.

i´ll keep looking for another psu ,just in case.

thanks again for your help everyone.
