Suppose you have a Divx, subtitle(s) and you want to authorate a DVD with some nice features. You do you proceed ?

You could use Scenarist, but this SW is expensive and not easy to use.
You coud also try it with Pinneacle Impressions. But what about a cheaper solution ?

The fastest way is to create your menu with a easy soft (like DVDLab). To create new vobs with subtitles with IFOEDIT and then to
Quote:
merge
the ifo's with IFOUPDATE and copy the movie vob's from the IFOEDIT folder to your other, lets say DVDLab, folder.

This work fine, but what if you have several movies, an elaborate menu (chapter selection, link to trailer, slideshow, etc) and want to add some subtitles ? The pointers wouldn't match and you'll have a problem for jumping chapters or pointing to other movies/slideshow.

Here is my suggestion :
Create your project (menu, slideshow, chapter selection, etc) with your favorite SW (let's say DVDLab).
Create an other sets of vob's with IFOEDIT which accept subtitles.
On one hand you will have a VIDEO_TS folder with all the interaction (menu, etc) and on the other a VIDEO_TS folder a movie with subtitle(s).

Now go back to DVDLab and import in your assets the IFOEDIT vob's, but set the joining option on. This option will import the vob has one. Then replace the main movie with the one joined vob. DvdLab will accept it (video and audio). Recompile your project.
You will now have a VIDEO_TS folder with your menu and all other features (like a slideshow which is generally put behind the movie) AND your movie WITH subtitle(s).
Check it all, it works. The only problem you may have is if you have 2 or more subtitles. You them must IFOUPDATE both VIDEO_TS (dvdlab and ifoedit) to specify the subs languages in the .ifo

Have fun
