You must of installed windows incorrectly, so I think the only way to get passed that problem is to format the HDD that windows is on and reinstall it...

i put the HDD back in this pc, formatted it and put it back in, now it says:
"BOOTMGR is missing
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"
What should i do?
Thanks in advance

well, you need to install windows... Put the cd inside the cd rom drive, restart the computer and then follow the instructions.

If you allready have installed windows, you might need to select the HDD that windows is on in the bios and set it as the first boot device.

because the hdd is formatted, and the fact that you have to install windows on it yet, go into the bios at startup, and change your boot priority. for installing windows, the order should be like this. 1.cd/dvd drive. 2.hdd 3.floppy drive. save to CMOS and reboot your comp..when you start going again it will say: press any key to boot from cd. if you dont press a key you will get that BOOTMGR error again. when the xp or vista setup starts, it will reboot several times, the first time it reboots, go back into the bios and change your boot priority to: 1.floppy drive, 2.cd drive, 3. hdd. save to CMOS and reboot, then your install should keep going.

good luck

Seems that your pc isnt setup correctly in the bios. So it will only boot from a hard drive and not a disk.

Boot up the computer and hold in the "Delete" button on the keyboard for a few seconds and wait for a screen to popup usually blue in colour. If it doesnt come up then hold in F2 instead.

You will need to find a tab called advanced something. once entered you will find info about boot devices/sequences. Find the 1st boot and change it to your cd/dvd drive but pressing enter on it and then selecting it. Also set the 2nd boot device as the hard drive.

Once you have done this press F10 and make sure you say yes to save.

Now when your computer boots up it will boot from the operating disk instead of the hard drive (hence the bootmgr is missing).

Yeah they have a good speed on them but being a scsi noob at the time i purchased the 160mb per sec hdds instead of the 320mb per sec ones which my scsi card could support so there is room for improvement. Ive got my eye on the i-ram pci card which beats everything out there for speed, loading xp at 6 secs. But shame i dont have the money now as i did before.
