I have a dilema I want to get your guys opinion on. I am using CloneDVD to backup my dvds to Iso's that I play with virtua CD and WinDVD from my PC. The quality is great b/c with an Iso there is no compression, however on some of my dvd's, once converted to iso, the color changes. For instance, "Bleach" (which is an anime series) has a lot of scenes where there happens to be a lot of light, when I play the dvd with my comp it looks clear, but an iso of the same episode doesn't, the highly lit areas of certain scenes are so bright the characters features are indistinguishable. Tuning my TV doesn't help - though I've tried- and it wouldn't matter b/c the dvd's look fine. Has anyone come across this before and if so what is the solution? Thanks, and sorry for such a long question.
Btw I am using the latest version of clonedvd, win dvd to play both the isos and dvds, and I have the Sony AW-G170A DL RW.
Thanks again..

Actually it sounds like you are compressing it. You said you used CloneDVD to back it up to an iso. If you are using CloneDVD and outputting the backup to an iso, then there is compression. However if you rip the full dvd to an iso with a program like DVDDecrypter or RipIt4Me, then there is no compression.

You might want to try ripping the whole dvd to an iso with one of those programs, then mount it to a virtual drive, and see if there is still discoloration. If there is it probably happened with CloneDVD.

I have tried DVD Decrypter before and I can't recall ever having seen discoloration. The only reason I switched to CloneDVD is because it can get past the RCE on some of the newer discs. However when I do the backup with clone DVD I burn it to a DVD9 iso, and the program tells me no compression is necessary. I'll try using decrypter tonight and let you know.
