For someone that doesn't have Nero and just wants a software program that can do it all-what advice do you have? Thanks

You should get used to using different combos of programs to make backups, with the new encryptions changes that are put out, there there no One program.

I don't have a problem with downloading the different CSS software. The ones that have it built in will work, but you could be in danger of a shut down like Xcopy

I'm using DVD Shrink Imageburn DVD Decrypter AnyDVD Nero 6 (Nero Recode)Allinone DVDFab plus more. It could change anytime DVDX is shutdown no updates, it was a stand alone program they shut down all stand alone programs so thats why you must use a combo of programs

What are you talking about there are several stand alone DVD Cloer 4 was #1 rated and is "stand alone" = You have too much shit (overlap), your going to have problems.

Here's a link http://dvd-copy-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

That will provide some facts you need to know. That shrink crap is freeware, and there's a reason for it. It's a freee Nero -old timers crap software.

Excellant all in software and updates just as much as slysoft's Anydvd and Clonedvd. cheaper too and has features clonedvd doesn't have like disc splitting, hd, Blu-ray and psp2.

Im very computer naive, but, I learned to use DVDRebuilderPro and have made over 400 backups of my originals now using ANYDVD and VOB Blanker and DVD DEcrypter. These 4 programs are all I have ever needed to make a backup. I have not had a single coaster in all that time except for when I first started and was just learning how to use DVDRebuilderPro. ANYDVD removes every copy protection without me having to do a single thing except to open it so it is running in my system tray. And DVD Decrypter has been able to rip every movie also. I will never use anything other than these 4 programs because they all work perfectly together time after time after time. I only had to change my burning program from RecrdNowMAX (which never failed to burn successfully in XP Home) because I couldn't use RecNowMax on my laptop with VISTA Home Premium. RecNowMax simply wouldnt recognize my hdd so I couldnt use it anymore to burn with. But it burned all over 400 dvds perfectly and they all played on any standalone dvd player flawlessly. I use Final Burn as my burning program now because it does work on VISTA OS. If RecNowMax worked in VISTA I would never have stopped using it. It never made a coaster and all [played in any dvd player as well as on the pC. The program DVDRebuilderPro creates perfect copies also. Just make sure to not use the one click method so that you can stop the process every 45 minutes or so so that the harddrive can cool down. I stop/abort every 45 minutes and let it rest/cool down for 45 minutes and then start encoding for 45 minutes again. This produces perfect copies that you cant tell from the original. I just counted all my copies. I have just under 650. ALL were made using the above 4 programs and only the last 2 were burned with Final Burner as I am using VISTA now and not XP anymore.

smg,

I agree with you on the software you use as dvd-rb pro can not be beat for video quality on anything requiring more than 20% compression. I don't however agree with the part about not using the 1-click method. if your hdds or cpu are getting to hot and need a break to cool down then you need more ventilation in your case (more/better fans) or if using a laptop, a laptop cooling pad. the 1-click method is all I ever use.

obviously the person that did the ratings doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.... 1click takes second? And some unknown program takes 1st.... OK, let pay a renewal fee every single year for a second rate program like 1click. And what about clone dvd from DVD X Studios placing third? Clone DVD from slysoft is way down in 6th. This must have obviously been a project for grade 6 computer class and even then the kid shoudl get a failing grade. Perfect marks for 1clicks quality... hahaha

edit: the reviewer doesn't even know Clone dvd from slysoft does compression and can place a dvd on a single layer disk, yup... I'll put all my faith and money in this product review, and take comments from the person who posted it as gospel with a grain of salt.

there is nothing worse than a person who asks a question, then argues about the answer someone gives them.

You're right it's just that my desktop is about 6 years old with an AMD 32 bit processor which are known for running hot. I Removed the side cover of my pc to help it cool down better..but it still needs to cool down, I'm sure age and the hotter processor is why.

Yes I didnt think you meant me..I just wanted to let any newbies using DVDRB Pro to know that if they have an old/hot running pc they should not use the 1 click method as that was the only times I would get coasters when I first started using it because the heat was the culprit and not anything that I was doing. In the beginning I had nightmares trying to figure what I was doing wrong until someone told me it might be excessive heat causing my problems. Now I always use the 3 click method - Prepare - Encode - Rebuild and for all these years now, not 1 coaster except for the occaisional bad dvd that I get. Also to newbies, always use the Taiyo Yuden as your #1 choice and Verbatim as your #2 choice. They play in every standalone dvd player I have tried them in.
Using these programs I listed earlier, an idiot (of which I qualify) can produce perfect copies that will play in practically every dvd player. If someone can show me how to post instructions on here I would be more than happy to post the Guides I wrote. I wrote them so that a 5th grader could understand them. No technical jargon whatsoever to have to muddle thru. All done by Steps. EXp. 1. Open ANY DYD and make sure it is running in the system tray in the bottom. 2. Insert original dvd into pc. 2. Open Decrypter etc. etc.
