Hi, My friend got a custom built computer a while back, the sound always cracked, so the custom builder switched the motherboard, this seemed to help at first after reloading vista, but then after installing the wireless card driver the crackling noise in the sound returned. The sound seems to start cracking as soon as the CPU reaches 8% Load while its playing, then it continues.

If anyone could help that would be great, I am totally out of ideas

Not to be mean but it sounds like an ASROK MB to me. I have alot of issues with video and sound using that brand. Quit installing them 2 years ago. Not saying this is your case but thought I would throw that in.

does it still make the crackling noise if you uninstall the wireless card drivers?? if it does, then i would suggest buying a new card. buy a linksys card, or belkin, depending on what you are using now and see if the problem returns.

Its an ASUS P5B, before it was a gigabyte mobo. The system builder should have just got the asus motherboard with the built in wireless
