Lately, I've been having problems with my burns.
I'm using ImgBurn. The burns go ok, but when being verified, I'm getting read failures (Failed to Read Sector 2210689 - No Seek Complete).
I had no problems with my current Taiyo Yuden Silver Thermal 8X TYG02
DVD-R 100-pack... but suddenly, with 30 or so to go, this started.
So, I'm wondering if it's the discs, or my drive (NEC DVD_RW ND-3520AW) is going.
Could someone advise how to figure out what the problem is?
I have DVDInfoPro installed, but the graphs mean nothing to me ;)
I have had no problems until recently. So, I'd like to know how to test if the disks are bad, or my DVD burner is on its death bed?
One other thing, the bad reads normally come when 97-98% complete.
Are the disc made in Japan ? Have you updated your firmware for that drive ? The only disc that I've used that I've never had any problems with is Verbatim DVDR- . Also what I meant, you can't just use Imageburn for all your backups . Have you tried AnyDVD to run in the background . The newer the movie the newer the encryptions thats why Imageburn is maybe not reading sectors. What other programs are you using to burn with .
Yeah, they're genuine TY discs, and I have the latest firmware.
I don't normally rip my own DVDs, so I'm not sure, if what you're saying applies to my situation.
Generally, I'm using TMPGenc Xpress4, to encode AVIs to Mpeg2, then,
authoring with TMPG DVD Author... then burning with ImgBurn.
I've been doing this for a long time, and may have had 3 coasters, since I started doing it this way... until the past week or two.
It's possible I got a bad lot of TYs, or maybe my drive is dying.
But I haven't a clue, how to figure out what the problem is, outside of just buying another burner ;)
Since your reads are failing at the last sector and the discs are coated printable discs, it is possible that the outer edge is beyond the tilt specification and out of focus if the curing of the surface pulled up the edge of the disc. One way to test this theory is reducing the size of the disc files to 95% of what they were (presuming you were filling the disc to its maximum capacity)and recording on the same lot of discs. If the recordings and playback now work, it is very likely a mechanical problem of tilt. If the recordings still fail at the outer sector, then the files are independent of the disc; and it may be a question of the file structure.
now we now a little more sounds like what joeryan said maybe to much for the disc I didn't know they avi's converted try the same file that worked before and see what happens before you buy a new burner
