Two movies, Mean Machine and The Others (both R2) - both over 5Gb - I plan to use IfoEdit to create two DVD-R's to backup the movie, however, I wondered what others personal preferences where - i.e. do you want your movies on one DVD-R only, and if so what do you do? (Programs etc).

Cheers! :)

If they're still over 5GB after you stripped everything out, it's a good idea to re-encode the video part and cut the end credits. You can find some guides here or on doom9.org
Some programs to re-encode the video: TMPGEnc, ReMPEG2 and CCE.
I hate titles

I personally recommend CCE over ReMPEG2 as there are some nags with ReMPEG2's ability to maintain the selected ABR. Or if you prefer not to purchase $1950 CCE SP (I wont comment on "other possibilities"), TMPGEnc's 2-pass VBR is nice option as well, beats ReMPEG2, IMHO.

dRD,

Do you recommend CCE over TMPGEnc? And is there a better way than re-authoring your CCE m2v file?
The reason why I'm asking this, is because nobody's answering this question...in any forum.

I would much rather have the best possible quality movie and have it on two discs.
Afterall alot of people have multi-disc DVD`s and also everyone needs a bathroom break

To be honest, now I have my two disc method and the quality is exactly the same as the original, trying to reduce quality is not an option to me anymore :)

I don't see the value in copying a DVD to 2 DVD-R's. For the price of 2 DVD-R's you can go out and buy another original copy of the movie unless I am not using the right DVD-R's (price-wise). I use Sony DVD-R which I have never had trouble with. At first, I bought a spindle of 50 generics and all 50 are now in the trash. None of them played correctly in either my settop or ps2 dvd player. Any suggestions on good cheap DVD-R's?

Well I am using White Label from www.digitalpromo.co.uk which basically cost 86 pence each - if I could find an original copy of Oceans Eleven for £1.72 then I will throw my Pioneer outta window!!
