When I need to convert a DVD into some format, I usually use VideoCharge. Although it's not free, it's a cool editor, and you can take a free trial version of it;)
Hey Im new here and im sure these guys probably have something newer then this, but i have been using AutoGK and it works great. It can also compress the movie to whatever size you would like it to be. However It becomes processor hog towards the end of the convertion and took me about 1:20:00 to do the matrix reloaded. I have a e6400 oc'd to 3ghz/core and it was running full blast for the last half hour.
This will also only do the convertion from the ripped dvd files. I like this because it fits my need, however might not be for everyone
