So I just built my new computer and I was using an old HDD. I am gonna upgrade to a SATA drive now. I just need help in picking one.
Does this seem fine?

I don't personally like Maxtor. Try to stick with either Western Digital or Seagate.

Western Digital never did me wrong. Still using one from 6 years ago. Have 3 other newer ones as well.

So that one would not be recommended? I am looking for something around 60-70 USD. Any suggestions would help. Thanks for the help, I don't really know too much about hard drives. I mean I know about SATA and more cache faster speed and about RPM and stuff, but I don't know HOW much faster it is going to be.

Why the passionate disagreement?
Bearing in mind the T series has changed since, and you haven't even offered a link as to where you can get one, and how stupid your post was, I'm going to assume you have no idea what you're talking about unless you can prove to me otherwise.

maxtor makes good hard rives. I think it is t he right choice espeically since it has a warranty and its brand new. The 200Gb space is more than what you will need so it is a great value

I prefer Seagate, but I don't think you will go wrong by getting the Western Digital or the Maxtor.
I think that Maxtor and Seagate are the same company now.

Don't be sold on an awsome warrenty. Pick one with proven performance. What good is a warenty when the drive crashes and you lose all that data. Yes you will get a replacement drive but your data gone forever.
I thought Seagate had a tie in with IBM. But that does not matter. everyone will swear to thier choice. nothing wrong with that. Happy picking.

I was until recent of the same view i had one maxtor and said never again and had seagate ever since until recently when i purchased 2 x 250gb hd maxtor.I went with the intention to purchase seagate finding out maxtor and seagate are now both owned and made by seagate.I have 2 STM3250820A in my system at present and they do not run like the Maxtor of old very quiet and very quick.When you purchase the latest maxtor now it's actually made using seagate Technoligy.

Hey abuzar1, I did that last night, If you have any probs with windows not seeing your SATA drive when you try to install xp let me know I could help you out.

Lets hope we see it as it can't be a bad thing for seagate to take over maxtor.I'm sure seagate won't want to be throwing out bad hard drives and loose it's good reputation with the consumer.

Well I'll probably go with the maxtor then. I'll let you know what happens.
@Kiwi, I hope I don't need your help, but if I do I'll let you know. BTW I am just going to do a clean install. I will wipe out this old drive and throw it in another computer.

Obviously it's prudent to mention that the current Maxtor drives are still the ones Maxtor made, Seagate had no involvement.

Sounds reasonable. I'm not saying Maxtors are bad, but I think there are better drives out there.

I don't want to take chances with something dying on me. Sure there is a warranty but thats 2-3 weeks down the line.
