hi everybody, my pc which hs been working fine without no problems has been working for about 3 years, running xp and is a p4 2.66 compaq,

it now doesnt start at all, with the power indicator light at the front flashing green, and the power supply led at the back where the power wire goes in from, is flashing green too.

i need the pc as i have some important infomation on there and any help to get it booted would be much apprecieated!!

ive read somewhere it could be the power supplying unit? but any other help or information to get it started would be great.

cheers

It could be. Try replacing the Power supply (make sure you buy either an official replacement unit or a good brand power supply, buying a cheap one will only make things worse)

It won't matter, that's only the maximum power it can provide, it doesn't put that out all the time.

Lol I too am from England, I should have spotted that from the username, never mind!

Try this one

Go with a decent brand.
I can't say for certain that the PSU is at fault, but if it isn't, you still won't have lost as much money as a repair shop would charge you, and you get a new power supply!

Just dont do what I did and buy one with a 24pin plug when my mobo was 20pin lol. Although an adapter was only a few bucks.

I don't know, I can't say for certain.

kiwi1: Most 24 pin plugs you can separate the other 4 and leave them dangling or plug them in elsewhere. I've plugged one in with the other pins just hanging over the edge before.

That Power supply looks OK I suppose, but not all Antec units are that good, for the tiny price difference, why not just go with the one I recommended?
