Greetings,

After converting an avi file onto a DVD-R, to make a DVD, I've noticed that the video catches when it pans at various points. Basically the panning is not smooth. When I watch the avi file itself there's no problem. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

When I create a DVD with NeroVision 3, in Video Options, the "Sample format" is set on Automatic. Should I change that setting or is there something else I should be doing?

Cheers

If you save the conversion to the hard drive, is it different from the DVD when you play either on the PC using the media player??

Or, is it possible that the AVI is PAL (25 FPS) and you are converting it to NTSC (29.97 FPS)?

If it is going from PAL to NTSC, then you might want to try vsoDivxToDVD
on one and see if there is any difference.

Import the file(s) (AVI, WMV,MPEG, VOB)
Output (standard DVD file format) to a folder on the HDD.
Set 'Aspect' to 4:3 (if you have a regular tv)
Set 'Standard' to NTSC (if you live in North America)

Yah, after creating the DVD I watched it on my PC and DVD player. The panning catches on both so that tells me there's something I need to do with NeroVision, but I don't know what. The avi, before converting it to VOB, plays perfectly on my PC.

NeroVision tells me that the avi file is "Video mode: PAL" and I burn everything in PAL.

I find it strange that all other scenes with motion, whether it be fast or slow, are fine. It's the still shots that pan ← ↑ → ↓ that catch.

Try VSO and see if it's different.
