hi all

i would just burn the main movie no extras! use DVD Shrink to rip/compress in one go! then burn with Nero!

easy to follow guides and usage here:

I used DVDShrink 2.3 to compress each portion of the movie, menu and extras as I saw fit then backed up to my HD. My Copies of FOTRing and TTTowers are flawless.

DVDShrink 2.3 and 3.0beta for ripping, compressing (if needed), and reauthoring and Nero 6 for burning is a great pair of utils to have for backing up / copying DVDs.

DVD Decrypter (main movie VOB (s) & title set IFO)
DVD2One 1.30 (Movie Only & I'd probably choose Variable Compression)
Nero 6 Ultra Edition (DVD-Video)

[ that's my preffered method ]

Could be because the RW disc wasnt finalized (perhaps)
Could be cos the RW media is rubbish (as you didnt state what brand etc)

Could be down to many things ...

1) My PS2 won't play +RW's, but it will play +R's. Once you have your technique down, there's no need to use the more expensive and less compatible RW's. So don't beat your head against the wall trying to finger out why your RW's only play on certain players.

2) Not all players are compatible with all burners or media.

3) I use virtually the same technique and software to backup DVD's as herbsman and made great copies of both LOTR movies.....cept I use constant ratio instead of variable. I don't know what the difference is...so I stick with what I started with.

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

LOL

Variable is normally used for the longer films , ie; 2+ hrs

hello

the disc was a Datawrite RW 4x but it wouldnt play, i guess it is down to the burning engine maybe Nero 6? or possibly jus coz it doesnt like Nero burning it, or the RW disc ..

my cousin copied the simpsons dvd which was 5 episodes, decrypted it with DVD Decrypter and then Shrink to compress, imgtools burn to create an image and then Nero 6 to burn .. now on the Pioneer u can skip forward on it all the way through .. but on a normal dvd player and his ps2 it will freeze at a certain point .. any ideas??

Only that you write at a lower speed on better quality media, like Ritek G03 or G04 DVD discs.

How do you know that your cousins DVD Player likes RW media , check here http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

And as koola has suggested (and IT is v.important) try Ritek G04 or something as reliable , I trust said disc implicitly...

P.S. I burn w/ Nero6 Ultra Edition without any problems at all , but Nero will conflict on some ppl's machines if other burning software is installed!
