Goodmorning. Newbie here to the forums, well actually I have referred to this site many times to answer a lot of my questions, and have to tell you I think it is awesome.
Here is my trouble. My desktop burner started giving me a Nero burn error just after writing the lead which I have posted to this forum. So in the meantime I decided to try my laptop. It came with a burner, but no software that I know of. I downloaded DVDFab & DVD Shrink, but am having trouble getting nero onto this system. It runs on Basic Vista (which I am not very fond of) any I continue to get a incompatibility message and only getting to 12% and then the whole computer locks up. I am using my Nero cd. So I attempted to get it off the web and I am having even less luck. Only get to about 14% of the download.
I really need to get at least 1 of the 2 burners I have working. I am afraid of losing my whole dvd collection too 2 kids and a new puppy. The puppy already chewed through Shrek. hahaha
I am willing to try any suggestions. This laptop is only about 6 months old and it uses Vista. The burner is a: Optiarc DVD RW Av-5530 A ATA Device. Oh and I am a very basic computer user but catch on easy. The only thing I need is things put into laymen terms.

Hi Gwen, I guess I am not going to get Nero on this computer. It wont let me get past the serial number now. So I was checking out your siggy. Do you think Ripit4me, DVD Shrink & Imigburn will work with Vista ?
Hi Gwendolin. Just wanted to let you know that my desk top burner is working again.
I am still not able to use my new laptop's burner. I tried Ripit4me, but was not able to configure it to the guides specifications. It looks like it may have change some what since 06. Also when I shut it down I would have to go and redownload it all over again. I am going to keep trying things out and maybe I'll strike gold. haha
