Background note: I am using Nero 5 - it works well enough and I'm happy with it. Nero 6 works better in some ways (see below), but it is way too slow.

The problem: In Nero 5, some burners are not recognized - that is, they don't come up on the menu of available "recorders". Yet, these burners are available and work fine in other software (e.g., CDRECORD). I believe this is caused by the identifying string that the device emits not being recognized by the Nero software. I can tell from "cdrecord -scanbus" that the device is there, but that the identifying string isn't as verbose as it maybe should be.

Nero 6 does recognize said device(s), but it takes forever to do it.

The Question: Is there any way to force Nero 5 to recognize it? Some obscure config command in Nero? Some registry hack? I would really like to get this working (just because Nero is a little easier to use than CDRECORD).
