Did you download some movies? Or are you trying to backup original DVD's?

Ok here's some free programs to use.
Convert the files w/ divxtodvd. Here's a guide and link to download - link.

Set the standard to the tv format you are in - PAL - Europe or NTSC - US, Canada.

Use you burning program of choice to burn the video_ts folder or here's a free one - ImgBurn. Use the build mode to add and burn the video_ts folder. Here's a guide-link
