ok first Q1 Intel CPU: what is the difference between the C2D E??00 CPU and the E??50 CPU?...and why is the E??50 edition CPU cheaper?

Q2 Comparing CPU: is AMD's X2 6000 equal to E6600/E6650 CPU? and is there a big difference between the E6850 and the x6800, which one is faster?

E??00=2mb l2 cache, and 1033FSB (high end E??00 have 4mb l2 cache)
E??20=4mb l2 cache and 1033FSB
E??50=4mb l2 cache and 1333FSB

I think the E6600 and E6650 would both be faster then the AMD.

Yeah, the intels are faster right now, and probably still will be even when AMD reveals their quad core. But you can just buy a cheap intel C2D and then overclock it, sicnce they can overclock ALOT.

so you guys are saying that the E??50 edition cpu is the fastest...it has 1333FSB more than other editions...yes i know C2D is faster than AMD, my friend has E6600 he is a intel user and i'm a AMD user and to compete with his E6600 will the X2 6000 be good enough

I don't think so, his E6600 could go much much higer if overclocked, and the amd really can't overclock that much. My E6300 is at 2.8Ghz, and If I can find the right voltage for my RAM I could get it up to 3Ghz.

Also the 6000 cant use 800MHz ram, it lowers it down to 750MHz

yeah i know that, but if you lower the multiplier to an even number then one can use 800MHz ram, and my friend, ok i'm not trying to be rude but he is a newbie to computer components, he doesn't like OC or he doesn't know to good that can comes out of OC. so he wont OC, so now will the X2 6000 be good enough? and what about the X2 5600 IF i OC it?

I have the 5600 in one of my computers, and I cant overclock it (the temps are at 40c idle) a computer I built with an E6420 beats it hands down.

Also he will have 2mb l2 cache more then you in his system, why dont you get one of the new 1333FSB intel chips and beat him using that?

ha ha ha i'm AMD follower, so i wont be using intel chips, and there is a new AMD CPU coming out, so i'm sticking with AMD for now. well looks like 6000 is the top of the line cpu for AMD...

No offense but that's stupid. You're a consumer, companies want YOUR business by making the better product. If one companies make the better product you buy that, not be a retard(no offense) and stupidly stick with one company just because they USED to have the better product, and that their name starts with an A, ends with a D and has a M in the middle(I mean AMD).

Do you already have a motherboard that supports the CPU?

The Core 2 Duo... That's just about what everyone told you lol. My E6400 came at 2.13 GHz stock and is now happily chugging along at 3.36 Ghz(check my sig, click on the link) with a cheap 30 dollar cooler.

overclocking is kinda easy (well, a little overclock is.) All you do is rais the FSB of the cpu, this is multiplied by a multiplyer (7 for E6300, 8??? for E6400) So for example my FSB is 400 my multiplyer is 7, 400x7=2800MHz

at times you will also have to rais the voltage that is provided to your CPU and RAM (overclocking CPU will also overclock ram)

depending on where you shop the quad core and top of the line C2D 1333FSB are the same price, or the quad core is more, at Canada Computers the quad core is $5 more.

the E6850 is a very new chip, its the fastest 1333MHz C2D CPU (not including extreme CPUs) and right now you will not really be able to use all 4 cores of the Q6600.

Either would be a great choice, if it was me I would get the E6850 (if I had the money)

but hey do you know that Q6600 is 2 e6600 put together so its not "true quad"

what brand of motherboard is the best...

ok, for motherboards I have always used asus (I am sure there are other great brands, the boards i have used just fit my needs)

What is your budget for a motherboard, and what are you going to be using it for (gaming, internet, oh and included the CPU type you want)

I think you are going the right way I mean the extrem core is the fastest processor for intel but I bet in two years or less AMD will eather be caut up to intel or past intel.

I have an AMD motherboard on its way but I still have to get more maney for 3 more things video card, Ram 2GB, Athlon 6000+.
