iphone & dvd aspect ratio (advent children)

hi, i just found our about the app
handbrake and am trying to decide
how to configure it for advent
children on my iphone.

you can go into picture settings, and
set the output resolution. source is
720x480, and there's two options:
"keep aspect ratio" and "anamorphic".
when you select "anamorphic" it says..

Source: 720x480, Output: 720x480
Anamorphic: 853x480

what exactly is anamorphic widescreen?

when you select "keep aspect ratio"
it'll set it to 720x400. if i scale
this down to the iphone's screen, i
get 480x272. however, if i don't select
"keep aspect ratio", i could set it to
480x320, which would use all of the
iphone's display. but would that be
stretching the video vertically? i
don't want ruin its origibal fornat.

btw, the dvd is 1.85:1 anamorphic
widescreen.
