I thought of buying LimeWire PRO 4.12.6 for about 18$. Is it legal?

I don't want to get caught and pay some big fine for something wrong I didn't even know I was doing.

If you buy it from Limewire themselves, then you're alright, but IMHO there are no real advantages of Pro over normal.

Bear in mind, Limewire/P2P is legal, it's what you share/download on it that is illegal; Watch yourself.

OH and socom0000, you're an idiot.

OK, but if I pay 18$, for the PRO version, is it legal. Yeah, I know, the normal one is completely illegal.

And also, socom0000, Ripper's right.

NO, the software is legal. What I said before stands is that it is what you do with that software which can result in illegal activities.

Ripper's always right.

Well I plan on downloading music. Not movies, softwares, documents or anything else. Just music. Is that OK?

No, that's illegal. Well, as long as the music isn't copyright protected. If it's mainstream then it'll be illegal to download - if it's an individual, smaller artist's work, their music may be legal to download.

Get a clue; piracy isn't for idiots.

For example, if I want to download some Billy Talent songs, it's illegal, right?

If yes, then why is there a free LimeWire and a 18$ one? What's the difference between both of them?

socom, being a genuine one yourself, you're not qualified to make that decision. Quit whining.

Btfan, that would be illegal. And, well, supposedly you're meant to get more features or faster speeds - something like that. It does tell you on the website in a very nicely laid out tick chart.

Limewire.... there isn't a bit of difference in function between the paid or free version from a users view..

As for billy talent (who?) Is he a signed artist? does he have files for download legit from mp3lizard or his own website? If he's owned by a music publisher chances are downloading his music using limewire (or any other p2p method) will be illegal, but in this den of pirates who gives a f*** about ethical matters? do whatever feels right.

Billy Talent have 2 albums and are assigned by Warner Bros Studios. And Ripper already answered my question nicely, no need for your help deadlove.

Seen them live, don't think much of them - REd Flag is their only good song IMHO.

And deadlove's input is more than welcome here, thanks.

It's because of another post he has written on me in another forum. He used foul language in both his signature and post. He used like 5 kinds of foul language in his post.

Ain't it just.. I know how to steal music and films without asking questions about in in a public arena.. and in case you didn't notice I said. if it feels good do it.. not no or anything.
The question everybody seems to have forgotton is "is it worth paying for limewire pro?".. IMHO.. NO.. save your cash and use the free one for obtaining malware whether you want it or not.. Far better looking on irc and torrents for music.
Is it you are upset because I don't know or care who that artist is? Apparently he's been playing a few festivals and is a waste of skin.

*sigh.. more pond life*

hi, jan. :-)

btfan, deadlove is a female, just so you know. you take internet forums too seriously, don't get in such a bind. follow the rules, use commmon sense, work for your answers, and the mods will take care of the rest.

socom, your swear word was edited out. best thing you can do is drop it and continue your attempt to develop into a useful member of the forums. :-)

Another thread ruined by socom0000, fantastic. If you've got anything useful to add to this forum, go ahead, but I for one am sick and tired of your posts.

In short, Limewire Basic and Limewire pro are both legal. Downloading music using them is illegal unless you have the written consent of the person who made the content (pretty much never). You can't be charged for having Limewire on your PC. You can however be charged for downloading pirate material using Limewire, either version.
