the guide PeaInAPod posted is the one i used to get dd-wrt on my wrt54gs the first time. but unfortunately, it didn't have my router's MAC address; telnet didn't save the settings, and it wouldn't connect to the internet. so i had to redo the whole firmware flash. my router thinks it's a regular wrt54g now.

fortunately, i was still able to enable the 16mb of ram. :]

THIS guide was more detailed, and provided pictures, so it's easier to understand.
