hi

from whats been said it seems hardware related?

have you installed to the same place you took a dvdrw drive out from? eide cable etc? have you set the jumper to master? or is it a new edition to the pc?

with software it could basically be not compatible that happens?

Have you tried reinstalling the aspi layer i have the same drive on eide! and use the v4.72 i think the latetest aspi layer!

could be bios setting? does your bios on the motherboard see the drive? or is it set to auto find/configure?

and other info you could supply us with could help abit more?

Thx.........

EDIT:

i am on the firmware that came with it! v1.05 and i have only good/excellant praise for the drive! i would leave the firmware for now!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Sorry for the delay in responding.

I have installed the drive in the same place as the one I've taken out. Its on the same IDE and is set to master.

It works OK with Nero, its just Primo. Which is a shame as I actually prefer Primo Prassi to Nero

Where would I find the latest ASPI?

hi all

here you go:

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe

thx...

===========================================
Description:
Updated ASPI drivers version 4.71.2 for Windows 98, NT 4, Me, 2000 and XP. Includes ASPICHK version checking utility. Adaptec provides this software without charge and as a courtesy to Adaptec product users but offers no technical support regarding this software.

Caution:
Do not use this version of the ASPI layer in Windows 95. Use ASPI version 4.60 found under the EZ-SCSI 5.x downloads for Windows 95. Adaptec provides this software without charge and as a courtesy to Adaptec product users but offers no technical support regarding this software.

Installation Instruction:
This file extracts by default to the c:\adaptec\ directory. If you have changed this directory, please note the directory you have chosen. For Windows 98, NT 4.0, ME and 2000, use the enclosed ASPIINST.EXE file to install the ASPI layer. For Windows XP, select Start - Run from the menu, and then the Browse button. Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory the files extracted to and select the OPEN button. In the command box, add a space and either XP32 for Pentium I/II/III/IV processors or XP64 for Itanium processors. The command should look like: c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP32 or c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer.

Notes:
The change in 4.71.2 from earlier versions is that it enables tagged queuing for read/write

Tried it and Prassi still wont see any compatable drives. Guesss I'll have to use Nero. How do I use Nero to burn VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files? Everytime I've tried I get compliance and allocation error messages even though Primo would burn these fine. Hence the reason why I prefered Primo

It may be that PRASSI software doesn't have the correct driver yet for that drive. Did you check for updates to software?

hi

the settings in Nero you are probably using v5 ones?

if you have v6 Nero and use the same you will get compliance probs!

But still burn it! and also try/use the DVD-Video tab instaed! it puts a folder VIDEO_TS in for you!

let us know how it goes!

And what version Nero you got now?

v6.0.0.23 ?
