I have a mini dvd, Duralayer DVD+RW i recorded from Sony dvd recorder. I think afte I recorded I accidently hit format instead of finalize.

I sold the camcorder, and now I?m trying to recover the recording. I put the disc into my dvd drive and it doesn?t see anything at all.

Is there anyway I can do this?

I used IsoBuster 2.2 and I can see a Video_RM and Video_TS folder under ISO and the same under UDF.

I tried extracting Track 1, the root folder and about half way it told me it couldn?t read some sector over and over and had to quit and now I have a uncompleted Track1.tao file.

My questions are:
Am I using the right software to recover?
What do I do with this .tao file?

I'm open to suggestions on anything I may be able to do!

Can someone, anyone please help me with this... thanks in advance!

Reformatting a DVD+RW is not as critical as reformatting other rewritable media. That's the only good news. Reformatting erased all the address tables and reapplied the video structure format to the disc. You will need data recovery software to artificially reconstruct a format that allows you to access the files and transfer them to a hard drive. It may not be possible to recover all of the files, but you may be able to pull enough data off to excise the missing portion.

So what is your recommendation for software to use for this?
isobuster seemed to come back with something, but I ran into some issues as per my initial post. CDRoller didnt' come back with anything.

If I actually did hit format after making the video, can I simply finalize on the camcorder or will that just finalize the nothing it thinks is currently on the dvd?

I tried IsoBuster again and got both the Video_TS and Video_RM folders brought back in ISO and UDF folders.

I can extract the folders within ISO but not UDF. I can't seem to play the Video_TS folder or the Video_TS.ifo file either using Windvd.

Can I only play the UDF version??? Which is going to make me register??

Recovered File 3.VIDEO_TS.IFO 32.00kb
Recovered File 4.VTS_xx_0.IFO 66.00kb
Recovered File 5.VOB 32.00kb
Recovered File 6.VTS_xx_0.IFO 66.00kb
Recovered File 7.VOB 576.00kb
