I have alot of programs and have been burning DVD movies for quit sometime now, but this has always bothered me is this possible to do please help on this!!!Thanks

Here is a workaround that has worked for me. It doesn't convert it to NTSC, but makes it playable. Use ImgBurn. Disable the region code and this should make it region free (region "0"). Rip the file to hard drive as IMG file and then turn around and burn image with Imgburn. This makes it more compatible with more DVD players. Hope this helps.

But will it play on a NTSC TV cause even though it's region free won't the screen flip out cause it's still a pal dvd being played on a NTSC TV or will this method make it so pal dvd will play on NTSC tv!!!thanks for the reply

Use DVD Flick or similar program to reencode to the frame rate of your choice...the region change shouldn't make a difference as the region marking on the disc doesn't have anything to do with the frame rate (i.e. NTSC vs. PAL).

Actually guys thanks so much for the help, but I found a real easy way to convert DVDs from Pal to NTSC using VOBBlanker! I decrypted the DVD then I open VOBBlanker and direct it to the folder where I saved the DVD files and boom it brings up all the VOB files that are Pal! I just right click on each file and it gives me a choice to change them to NTSC do this for all the VOB files usually it's like 4 or so files that's it! Once you have all the file set to NTSC hit the process button and boom the program automatically converts the entire DVD to NTSC and once it's done use any dvd burning program you want(I use DVD Shrink)! DVD Shrink will burn the DVD files ,VOBBlanker converted to NTSC, to DVD and your ready to go I popped the DVD+R in my xbox 360 and it played just like a regular NTSC DVD! Thanks guys for all the help and I hope this helps you guys to!!!Peace

You have not converted to NTSC. You have to re-encode, which VobBlanker cannot do and DVDShrink cannot burn anything.

Yes I did before you argue mister senior member look into the facts first ok instead of arguing knowing your wrong! I decrypted the pal DVD with dvd decrypter after that I used VOBBlanker and it converted the DVD files over to NTSC(simple) and then once VOB was done I opened DVD Shrink and clicked on add files found the folder that had the new DVD files already converted to NTSC! DVD Shrink reads the folder analyzes it and then it shows how big it is after that all I do is hit backup and boom it goes through the encoding crap "blah""Blah" then it finally burns it and there ya go pop it in to a DVD player doesn't matter and it plays!! I've done this with 6 PAL DVDs and they work perfect!!! SO stop arguing MysticE it works ok!!peace

Not to argue or anything, but DVD Shrink doesn't burn...it doesn't even have a burn engine.

HI dude I understand! You are right it doesn't you have to have nero installed on your computer and dvd shrink will detect nero and it uses neros burning technology to burn dvds!! You have to have nero though when you click the backup button it will take you to the next screen and you have the option to choose the burning recorder DVD drive cause it have already detected nero and set a temp folder for the DVD files!! So this is how DVD shrink burns!!! Peace

Why don't you run one of your newly converted to NTSC VOBs through GSpot and post a screen shot.

Dude this is not that hard ok just try it for your self and you guys will see it works! I will explain it again how this is done!
"FIRST"
I forgot to mention get a program that makes your PC DVD drives region free disables the region code(I use DVD Region+CSS Free!
"SECOND"
Use DVD Decrypter(make sure you have the DVD Region+CSS Free on) and Dvd decrypter will recognize the PAL DVD in your dvd drive! Ok go ahead and have DVD decrypter decrypt the PAL DVD files to a folder ok once that's done moving on!!!!
"Third"
Ok now shut down your DVD Region+CSS Free cause VOBBlanker will not start if DVD Region+CSS Free is running!! Ok open VOBBlanker now on the Input Video manager(VIDEO_TS_IFO) line hit the browse button find the folder you put the decryted files from the PAL DVD in! VOBBlanker will load them up and you will see the files on the section where it says TITLESET look at the files the ones that say PAL in the VIDEO FORMAT section in the TITLESET right click on each file and it will bring up another screen there will be a part where it says PAL and NTSC Pal will be marked select NTSC instead then hit the ok button it will ask if this is what you want to do pretty much hit yes! Do this for all the files that say PAL in the VIDEO FORMAT section once you have done this, also make sure you set up another folder for the output folder so when VOBblanker does it's thing you know where the files were saved to, go to the bottom of VOBBlanker and hit process and wait for VOBBlanker to do it's thing once it's done check the folder setup for the output folder to see if the DVD files are there if they are move on!!!!
"FORTH"
Now you can use any DVD burning program you like(I use DVD Shrink)DVD cloner, NERO, DVDFAB whatever just point the program to that folder you set up for the output folder in VOBBlanker and let the DVD burning program do it's thing once it's done burning boom pop it in a DVD player of your choice and your set!!! I tried my DVDs on a $27.00 cheap DVDplayer on a standard TV and the DVD booted on the DVD player and it played just fine on the TV!!! Quick Note I got most of my DVDs to work on my playstation 3 but one wouldn't work Playstation 3 is real weird about DVDR so I would not recommend playing these on a playstation 3!!!Peace
Please try this guys it really works!!!! If anybody has trouble just ask and I will help

Dudey, I'm familiar with the non-converting 'hack' you are using. It has been mentioned and debated a few hundred times over the past few years. My machines play PAL, but if the conversion is for someone else I'll do it correctly... I'll re-encode to NTSC specs, 720X480, using DGpulldown to get PAL's 25fps to 29.97fps. Things VoBBlanker can't do.

Your hack does not work on all machines and on others the resultant video is unwatchable due to various problems.

I agree with MysticE. Your method is well known. All you do is patching the IFOs, changing the video format. But the reality is the VOB is still in PAL format so it's not a true conversion but a fake conversion. The player is tricked into thinking that it's playing a NTSC video.

Anyway, glad it works for you. But this method is not guaranteed to work on all dvd players.

Also in agreement with MysticE and toaddub. Sorry, the NeroRecode screen grabs mean nothing.

NeroRecode is only reading the patched info from the IFO. The video hasn't been converted to NTSC. You can patch any DVD to NTSC or PAL with VobBlanker and NeroRecode will report the patched format. But still, nothing has really happened to the video.

As MysticE said, open a VOB file with an app that will actually analyze the video attributes of the file, Virtualdubmod, VideoRedo, etc. You'll see that your "converted" file hasn't really been converted.
