Does the processor speed of a computer deteriorate over time, I have a 2GHz Core2 Duo laptop and My computer properties used to say 2.00 GHz and now it says 1.99 GHz, not a big difference but this program http://www.wizard-soft.com/cpuspeed/index.htm reports my speed as 1963.9 MHz and I8KFANGUI Reports my speed as 1997 to 2000

Its not... My P4 is at 3.753Ghz, and sometimes it shows up as 3.7... Sometimes even lower. It all depends on the voltages, which change constantly. Nothing to worry about.

Minor voltage variations cause slight changes in CPU frequency, only usually a couple of mhz, but because your CPU is exactly 2Ghz, it will be enough to change between 2.00 and 1.99.
