I'm building a new PC.. so I'm needing some help, because I never built one myself, but I know about hardware... this is my current PC specs:

Motherboard ASUS A7V8X-X
Processor AMD Athlon XP 1800
256 + 512 MB RAM DDR 333mhz
EVGA e-Geforce 6200 256mb
Hard Disk Maxtor 6E030L0 (30 gb..)
LG DVD R-RW

This is a very old PC... so I'm building a better one:

Motherboard ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE
Processor AM2 Athlon 64 X2 5200 Dual Core
1 GB + 1 GB RAM DDR2 Kingston 667 mhz
Power Supply SATA 500Watts REAL ATX / 24 pins
Hard Disk Seagate 320 GB Sata Sata2
Graphics Card XFX Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB Fatal1ty
and my good ol' LG DVD R-RW

So.. what do you think about my old PC and the new one I'll buy? Do you think the new power supply can do the job? Will everything work with the motherboard? And my OS is Windows XP SP2.. I don't plan to get Vista... I'll stay with SP2

it all depends on what you're doing. That's a reasonably powerful build, although the graphics card is somewhat 'midrange'.
The power supply is rubbish, so don't buy it.
Get something like a Corsair HX 520W. NEVER skimp on a power supply, or you risk destroying all your components, causing fire and potential harm to yourself as well.

What about these Power Sources:

HUNTKEY 450W
[ LW6450SG ATX 2.2 ]

and

Thermaltake Pure Power Tr2 430w W0070 Tb Seventeam

Which is better? Or both are cr*p?

And about the Graphics Card... the eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS 320 MB can do the job? But it's too expensive..

Like I say, the graphics card all depends on what you're going to use the PC to do, the 8800GTS 320MB is insufficient for some, overkill for others.
As for the power supplies, the Thermaltake is better, but neither are good.
Buy the power supply I recommended.

What games will you want to play on the PC?
That way I can work out what graphics card you'll need.

Crysis, BioShock, Just Cause, FarCry 2, Mercenaries 2 and some others from Q4 2007 and 2008...
Don't you have another good power supply to recommend? Because Corsair supplies are hard to find in the place where I'm going to buy it =/

Which country do you live in then? There are a few good brands, but there are far more rubbish ones.
Seasonic, Tagan and Nexus are brands that can be relied upon. Thermaltake, Enermax and OCZ make some good models but they're not all good.

Crappy Brazil.
None of the 3 brands you told me have in the biggest online buying website... www.mercadolivre.com.br
It will be difficult to find these brands...

And what about the 8800 GTS 320 MB running BioShock and Crysis? Is it good?

take a look:

I don't speak portugese, could you send me the URL for their Power supply section?

The 8800GTS 320MB is a good card, but you'd probably get better performance in the titles mentioned with a slightly older, 512MB card. 320MB's not a lot of memory any more.

videocard u should get a card with max pipelines out ie, 32 comepared to 16 u will get a bottleneck with less then 16, mem, interface should be 128 bit min,256 would be best.gpu speed of 400 can trash a 600 mghz gpu, card with more pipelines and higher mem, interface can do more in the same clock cycl, also system mem, should be ddr2 800 duel channel 64 bit is ok see if u can find 128 bit, and motherboard that can handale it ,a power supply around 480 with 2 fans ,a lot of power supplys fale because heatsinks inside are not large enough ,if the power supply is haevy it has good heatsinks.i would go with an amd2 4600 duel corr, brisbane at 65 watts,or a 4400 if u can,t find the 4600.the 5200 would be a waste of money running xp ,also r u goning to run 64 bit, xp or 32 bit,

It's a little expensive but thanks, I have some cash avaible.
Now about the Graphics Card, I found this one with 512 MB:

PCIEXP. 512 MB GF 7950GT 610mhz DDR3 dual DVI HDCP

It's cheaper than 8800 GTS 320 MB.. but is it better?
----------
I'm using Windows XP SP2 and I don't want to change it to Vista. I never used 64 bits, always used 32.
And I'm thinking about changing the 5200 processor and getting a AMD AM2 940P ATHLON64 X2 4400 1M/2300MHZ BOX DIRECT.
What do you think fellas?

Ignore the '5200 would be a waste of money running xp' comment, get as fast a CPU as you can find. The 5200 will be 20% faster, pure and simple.
As for the 7950GT, that's exactly the sort of card I had in mind with regard to slower but more memory, you'll be able to run some games better with that than the 8800GTS, but overall performance will be slightly lower.

Ok, thanks for your help Sammorris and rch0621.
So this is what I'm going to buy:

Motherboard ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe

1 GB + 1 GB Kingston DDR2 667 Mhz [if I get some more cash, I'll put 1 more GB.]

NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT 512 MB [thnx Sammorris]

HD Seagate 320 GB SATA II [I don't think I'm going to use it all... but it's cheap :D]

Processor AM2 Athlon 64 X2 5200 [thnx Sammorris]

Power Source OCZ StealthXStream 600W Real ATX/EPS ATX 2.2 PFC [thnx Sammorris]

---------------------------------------------------------
I hope everything fits just fine.. BTW, here's a picture:

http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/60/cpunm3.jpg
[ it's big so open it in a new window ;) ]

It's ugly... Need to change it someday... and sammorris, do you know the models' name of it? The brand is DR. Hank as you can see on the pic.

bye

The 7950GT leaves the 8600GT in the dust, the 8600GT is a slow card.
It doesn't matter about DX10, an 8600GT won't be able to play many DX10 games anyway because it just isn't fast enough.
Asus make good motherboards, just some have little 'quirks'.
All in all, I'd say nadolny's choices are good ones. I don't think he should change anything.
