I switched operating system (w2000 to xp) and now I can only write r/w cd's. I have no idea why this happened. How do I get back to being able to write just plain cd's?

Thank you...........

Have you tried uninstalling with Device Manager and letting the OS reinstall automatically upon restart.

Here's a complete reinstall:

- right click on My Computer and select Properties.
- Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button.
- expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives
- right click on the name of the burner and select Uninstall then OK
- expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
- right click on whichever channel your burner is attached and select Uninstall and then OK.
- restart the system.

Great idea! I'll give it a try. One thing of interest. Nero info tool tells me that I should be able to write a plain cd (not a R/W). I find that a little odd. I am going to do as you suggest - it makes sense and I should have thought of that myself!

Thanks!
