hi i have got upto 8mb speed on my broadband connection, but seam only to average approx 4 mb. the bt line will allow approx 6 mb any way of speeding this up ? i need to use a extension cable does this effect the speed ?

If you're on cable modem, the number of people online in your area, can cause slow downs. If you're talking about download speeds from a torrent being slow, port forwarding is supposed to speed things up. I started to do that once, but it got so involved, I gave up. I decided I was in no hurry.......... :o)

when downloading torrent files pretty quick its just when i browse the net it seams sluggish (slow) i have used these speed testers and tells me approx 4mb,what if i connected directly from the master socket ?

Doubt that will make a difference.
Have you checked for Adware, and that type stuff? That can slow computers down. But I bet it's just a lot of folks in your area, online the same time you are. Is it faster at different times of the day or night?
