I recently just bought a 22" acer lcd monitor and I'm not sure if the video card would be able to support it. I'm very noobish in this area so please bear with me =) How do I check the video card's capabilites to support a resolution of 1680 x 1050?

Here's the specs of the monitor:

I'm not sure about the graphics card cos I didn't buy it lol

I went and looked for the graphics card and I think it's called: Intel(R) 82915G Express Chipset Family. I'm not even sure if this is a graphics card lol Like I said, I'm totally noobish with this stuff lol

The graphics chipset will support the resolution fine, but obviously you won't be able to play any decent games at that resolution.

Thanks mate!!! I just wanted to test the monitor because the pc that I bought still hasn't arrived yet =( The graphics card in that machine is quite good:

What you are talking about are integrated graphics chipsets. Most Video Cards made in the last 2-3 years are able to support that kind of resolution.

Anyways when buying video cards only buy nVidia or ATI.

from nvidia 8400GS, 8500GT, or 8600GT are good enough for the job.

Ah well, it's a bit too late now buying a new graphics card. Besides, I live in Australia and I very much envy you guys who live in the US and can just buy cheap stuff on newegg.com =P

Hehe I don't, I live in the UK and we get murdered for cost, 17.5% VAT and all that.
Any card can run that resolution even if it's an ancient Geforce 4. You'll be fine.
